Collector Embeds - How to configure

Setup, configuration and best practices.

General info

Embeds let you seamlessly integrate your surveys into websites, blogs, or other digital platforms so respondents can participate without ever leaving the page. Instead of redirecting users to a separate link, an embedded survey sits directly within your content, creating a smoother experience and increasing the likelihood of higher response rates. This makes embeds a powerful way to collect feedback in context — whether you’re running a customer satisfaction survey on your product page, gathering event feedback on a registration site, or adding quick polls to your blog posts.

Embed setup & configuration

Setting up an embed in your survey project ensures your respondents can access the survey directly where you need it — on your website, landing page, or blog — without any unnecessary redirection. To get started, you’ll first want to confirm that your survey is fully finalized and successfully published on the Build page. Publishing is important, because only finalized surveys can generate the embed code required for placement. Once your survey is ready, move over to the Collect page. Here you’ll see a list of collectors connected to your survey. Simply select the collector you’d like to use for your embed, and a side panel will appear with configuration options. Within this panel, locate the Embed section and click on the + button to create a brand new embed. Doing this will immediately load a default configuration, giving you a quick starting point without requiring any manual setup from scratch.

On the configuration screen, you’ll be presented with several important tools and options that define how your embed will behave:

  • Live preview — see how the embed will appear to your visitors before placing it on your site. In most cases, the live preview updates dynamically as you modify your embed configuration, allowing you to visualize the respondent experience.

  • Unified code snippet — copy this snippet once and paste it into your website. It does not change as you switch between embed types, meaning you can experiment with different configurations without worrying about replacing the code each time (with a few special exceptions noted later in this article).

  • Embed type selection — choose the presentation that best fits your use case. Options include:

    • Inline —  which inserts the survey seamlessly within your page content.

    • Full page  for when you want the survey to take over an entire page.

    • Popup which appears when triggered by user interaction, e.g. by clicking a button.

    • Widget a compact, floating option on the page.

    • Side panel which slides in from the side for an unobtrusive experience.

  • Configuration settings — adjust specific options based on the type of embed selected. For example, popups may allow you to define triggers, while side panels may offer layout preferences.

After tailoring your embed to suit your needs be sure to save your changes. Saving ensures your configuration is locked in and ready. Once saved, you can safely add the embed code to your site.

Key considerations

When working with embeds, please keep the following key considerations in mind:

  • Collector dependency — The embed code snippet works only with the collector it was generated from. If that collector is deleted, the embed will no longer display on your website. To prevent this, either avoid deleting the collector or be sure to replace the old snippet with a new one linked to an active collector.

  • Website compatibility — Embeds are highly configurable, allowing you to choose the format and behavior that best fits your needs. However, certain configurations may not fully align with your website’s layout or design. Always preview and test your embed before starting live data collection to ensure it displays correctly and creates a smooth experience for your visitors.
