Linear connection

Create or update Linear issues from survey responses. Turn feedback into actionable tasks for your team automatically.

Overview

The Linear connection creates a new issue in your chosen Linear team for each survey response. You map survey questions to issue fields and can set fixed values for things like priority,  state, and labels. With lookup support, you can update existing issues instead of creating duplicates.

Prerequisites

  • A Linear account

  • A survey with at least one question

Setup

Step 1: Connect your Linear account

Select an existing connected Linear account or click Connect an account to authenticate with Linear via OAuth.

Step 2: Select a team

Choose the Linear team where issues should be created.

Step 3: Configure fields and set trigger rules

Set fixed values for issue properties like priority, state, project, and labels. Then map your survey questions to issue fields such as title and description. Optionally set a lookup field to update existing issues instead of always creating new ones. Finally, choose which response statuses trigger the sync: Complete, Disqualified, or Over Quota. You can also add conditions to filter which responses are sent.

Field mapping

Each survey question can be mapped to a Linear issue field. Common mappings include:

  • Title — The issue title, typically mapped to a short-answer question

  • Description — The issue body, useful for open-ended feedback

  • Priority — Urgency level (No priority, Urgent, High, Medium, Low)

  • Labels — Categorization tags

  • State — Workflow state (e.g., Backlog, Todo, In Progress)

  • Assignee — Team member to assign the issue to

  • Project — The Linear project to file the issue under

You can also set fixed values for any of these fields, so every issue created by the connection gets the same priority, label, or project regardless of the survey answers.

Lookup field

When you set a lookup field, Centiment searches for an existing issue where that field matches the mapped survey answer. If a match is found, the issue is updated. If no match is found, a new issue is created.

Backfill

When first enabled, existing responses that match your trigger rules are automatically synced to Linear.

Good to know

  • Fixed values and mapped values work together. For example, you can set a fixed priority of "High" while mapping the title and description from survey questions.

  • Issues are scoped to the team you select during setup. If you need issues in multiple teams, create separate connections.
