Restricting Login Methods for Your Organization

Control how your team signs into Centiment

Overview

Centiment allows organization administrators to control which sign-in methods are available to their team. This is useful for organizations with security policies that require a specific authentication method — for example, allowing only Google sign-in to ensure all access goes through your company's Google Workspace identity provider.

How It Works

When login method restrictions are enabled for your organization, only the approved sign-in methods will work for your team members. Any attempt to sign in using a method that is not on the approved list will be blocked automatically.

Centiment supports the following sign-in methods:
  • Google — Sign in with a Google account
  • Microsoft — Sign in with a Microsoft account
  • SAML SSO — Sign in via your company's single sign-on provider
  • Password — Sign in with an email and password
  • Code — Sign in with a one-time code sent to your email
Your organization can enable one or more of these methods. Only the methods you choose will be available to your users.

What Happens When a Method Is Restricted

If a team member tries to sign in using a method that has been turned off for your organization, they will see an error message letting them know that the sign-in method is not available. They will need to use one of the approved methods instead.

For example, if your organization only allows Google sign-in, a team member who tries to sign in with a password will be blocked and prompted to use Google instead.

Per-User Restrictions

In addition to organization-wide settings, individual users can be further restricted to specific sign-in methods. When both organization and user-level restrictions are in place, the most restrictive setting applies. This gives administrators fine-grained control over how each team member accesses the platform.

Setting Up Login Method Restrictions

Login method restrictions are configured by the Centiment team on your behalf. To set up or update the allowed sign-in methods for your organization, please contact your account manager or reach out to our support team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I allow more than one sign-in method?
A. Yes. You can enable any combination of the available methods. For example, you could allow both Google and SAML SSO while blocking password-based sign-in.
Q. What if a user already has an account with a restricted method?
A. They will need to sign in using one of the approved methods going forward. For example, if password sign-in is disabled but a user previously signed in with a password, they would need to switch to an approved method such as Google.
Q. Does this affect existing sessions?
A. No. Login method restrictions apply at the point of sign-in. Users who are already signed in will not be interrupted, but they will need to use an approved method the next time they sign in.

Q. Can individual users have different restrictions than the rest of the organization?
A. Yes. Administrators can apply additional restrictions to individual users. These are always equal to or stricter than the organization-level settings — a user will not be able to use a method that is blocked at the organization level.
